The Mission at Nongbah was started way back in 1907 by Salvatorian missionaries from Germany and was established fully as a mission station in 1911 but the mission has to be stopped in 1915 due to World War I. After the departure of the Salvatorian missionaries, the mission was left without any pastor to look after. It was on the 17th of April 2016 where the mission was opened as a fully-fledged Parish and entrusted to Salvatorians once again by Most. Rev. Thomas Menamparmpil SDB. DD, the Apostolic Administrator of Jowai Diocese. The Parish is named under the patronage of “Our Lady of Assumption”.  This Nongbah Parish as of now has 5 Villages which consist of 365 catholic families and a population of 2471 Catholics, 5 Lower Primary Schools, 1 Upper Primary school/ Secondary School, and 1 English Medium school.
