St. Peter and Paul Parish - Laitkynsew

The Laitkynsew Mission which was started in 1897 had to be stopped by the Salvatorian Missionaries 1915 due to the World War. After their departure the mission was left without pastors. In 2004 on 25th January the mission was once again reopened as a fully fledged Parish by His Grace Most Rev. Dominic Jala SDB, Archbishop of Shillong. This newly erected Parish under the patronage of the Apostles Peter and Paul consists of 36 Villages consist of 1760 Catholic Families, a population of 7860 Catholics, 78 Catechumens, 4 Catechists, 9 Pre-Primary Schools, 5 Primary Schools and 5 Sub-districts.
