The foundation stone for the Christ Jyoti Junior College was blessed and laid on 30 June 2001by the former Superior General Rev. Fr. Andrew Urbanski and Vicar General Rev. Fr. Piet Cuijpers of the Salvatorians. The first pillar of the building was cast on 08 December 2001. On 21 April 2005, the Superior General of the SDS blessed and Vicar General of the SDS dedicated the school building to the fond memory of Fr. Dr. Christopher Becker the first Salvatorian Apostolic Prefect of Assam.
