The Salvatorians who came to India first in1890 had to leave after 25 years of arduous and selfless missionary works in Northeast India. During the great jubilee year, and on the feast of “Mater Salvatoris”, Salvatorians returned to the Khasi Hills in Shillong. On October 11th, 2000, his grace Archbishop Dominic Jala, SDB, inaugurated the first community of Salvatorians. The house was used for the students of philosophy.
The Theology study house was inaugurated on 18 April 2005. It is named after Fr. Otto Hopfenmuller SDS, the first catholic mission superior to North East India.
